Heike Rinde has become Nina Sturm and returns with the story of "Maria and the Volcano".
She did this by creating the feminist group "The Vulcan Grrrls", which came into being with her first stage production.
"Maria and Louky are volcanologists. Maria likes Louky, Louky likes Maria, and they live together for several years. Suddenly, Maria gets unfairly fired and the volcano erupts. Before Louky also leaves the volcano, she tells us: this was my life with Maria."
A musical theatre piece about sisterhood and landscape, about premonitions, fire and a vixen who likes to have several lives. What eruptions are we looking for? And what do we do with what has been destroyed?
So Maria built volcanoes out of potting soil, salt dough and flour. And depending on whether it was high or low tide, the mobiles on the ceiling moved up and down. I started doing it too. Together we took the landscape apart: river, algae, waves, beaches. And then the volcano: smoke, magma, slopes, craters. And of course the island: houses, people, animals, paths. Maria liked to repeat that you had to give words SUBSTANCE. That you should look them in the face and ask yourself what they really meant. That it was good for them to switch from one language to another. And that one day I would have to understand (Maria meant: decide) what the word ‘volcanologist’ meant – for me.
